For the very first time since 1932, Montréal will play host to the World Figure Skating Championships this year, bringing the world’s very best skaters to Montreal in 2020. The annual ISU World Figure Skating Championships® is held each year in different locations all over the world, drawing over 300 million viewers worldwide via television. Showcasing 200 of the very best skating athletes from 50 countries in four distinct categories, figure skaters come together to compete for the title of World Champion in ladies’ singles skating, men’s singles skating, pairs skating and ice dance.
The International Skating Union (ISU) awarded the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® 2020 to Skate Canada, who will host the event at the Bell Centre from March 16 through 22, 2020. Skate Canada has an impressive record of holding successful ISU events, having organized the ISU World Figure Skating Championships® already 10 times in Canada. In addition, each year they host Skate Canada International, one of the important stops on the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series.
