Whether you’re coming to Montréal to check out the arts scene, practice your French, explore historic sites, or for even for work, you’ll want to make sure you know where to get a cocktail and unwind at the end of the day. Check out our top choices from the cocktail bars our fair city has to offer.
No list of cocktail bars in Montreal would be complete without including Le Mal Nécessaire. This tiki-inspired Chinatown spot doesn’t have a flashy entrance but once inside you’re transported to a tropical island, and an island with a long drink list at that. You’ll never run dry of options for a drink to try here, and you can even get yours served in either a coconut or a pineapple!
This Vietnamese pub features a casual atmosphere, aromatic tapas options, and carefully concocted cocktails. Reviewers rave about the papaya salad, pork ribs, vegetarian rolls, and, of course, the fun & exotic drink options. This lively restaurant gets full fast so make a reservation to make sure you can experience it.
If you’re looking for a nostalgic night out then look no further than Arcade MTL. This bar features a selection of old-school video games on both arcade machines and gaming consoles and is the only one of its kind among Montréal bars. There is a fee at the entrance, but then all games are free to play after that. This bar features free popcorn, a free coat check, and reasonably priced drinks to ensure a great night of gaming.
Prefer beer over liquor? Don’t miss Vices et Versa. There are forty-two beers on tap to sample while enjoying the laidback vibe and amazing food. Their beer flights, burgers, poutine, and even veggie dishes get rave reviews. Snag a spot inside or enjoy the weather and views of Montréal from their outside terrace seating.
You know we wouldn’t leave out or own fantastic onsite option, right? Z Tapas Lounge here at Hotel Zero-1 is a standout among Montréal bars. With creative tapas by MasterChef Marielvi Falvino and signature cocktails created by Patrice Plant, a mixologist based in Quebec City, it is the preferred entertainment district spot to dine and drink before or after a show (pro tip: bring your tickets in to save 15%!). Happy hour specials are available every Thursday from 5-7pm. Guests comment on our great staff, perfect location, and of course, delicious food & beverages, including an extensive wine list.
Clearly this is not an exhaustive list but hopefully, these 5 hot spots will lead you on your quest to find fine cocktails when in Montréal.
